The “Turkcell Platinum Istanbul Night Flight” concert series, organised by Events Across Turkey, brings world stars to Istanbul audiences at Hagia Irene — located in the first courtyard of Topkapı Palace, known as the World’s First Museum, one of the most important historic sites in our country and still preserved today as a monument museum.
Within the scope of Istanbul Night Flight, the series opens on 15 May with a concert by Viktoria Mullova, known as the greatest living violin virtuoso and the winner of many awards in her field, followed by:
- 15 September: the world-famous duo Igudesman & Joo, who broke new ground in classical music,
- 14 October: the Berlin Symphony Chamber Orchestra conducted by the world-renowned Jürgen Bruns, performing at Hagia Irene for the first time,
- 28 October: the world-famous all-female quartet Salut Salon, performing in Istanbul for the first time,
and the final concert of the series,
29 October: An Epic Symphony conducted by Orhan Şallıel, premiering with a Symphony Orchestra and giving the concert its name. The repertoire includes a kemenche overture composed especially for the night and performed by soloist Imamyar Hasanov, known as the heir of the kemenche; a captivating performance by ATHENA, one of Turkey’s leading bands, with a symphony orchestra for the first time; a special performance by Yusuf Taşkın, the voice of the original soundtrack of the cult film Ağır Roman; and many more works, all brought to life with a visual show by international mapping artists. After An Epic Symphony, Turkcell Platinum Istanbul Night Flight takes a short break until 2018.
